One, Two, Three, Jump! - Bungee Jumping in Costa Rica
If you enjoy thrilling sports and activities, Costa Rica is a perfect vacationing destination for you. Here, you can not only surf and dive in warm green water and hike mountainous and challenging trails, but you can participate in one of the most thrilling activities of all-bungee jumping! By learning about the bungee jumping options available in Costa Rica, as well as reading a little about the activities itself, you can find prime locations and understand how bungee jumping can be extremely safe for almost anyone! Don't let the fear of heights get you down; try bungee jumping on your Costa Rican vacation.
To participate in bungee jumping, the jumper ties one end of a flexible cord, which acts like a huge rubber band, to their ankles while tying the other end to a high-up place. Then, like the name implies, the jumper jumps! The cord allows you to spring back up in the air a number of times before coming to rest and being pulled back to the top.
When you go bungee jumping in Costa Rica, make sure it is with a trained professional. If you have any medical conditions check with him or her or with your doctor before attempting to jump. People with back pain or heart conditions should not jump. Also before you jump, check to be sure that your professional really is certified and experienced and that the cord you are using is fairly new.
The best place to jump in Costa Rica by far is the Old Bridge over the Colorado. This location is a mere half hour drive from San Jose, and thrill-seekers from all over the world flock to the bridge to jump. What's so special about an old bridge? The drop from the bridge to the ground is 300 feet! Jumpers here usually use cords that are 100 feet long, and stretch so that you fall about 200 feet before bouncing to safety. That's a long fall!
Jumping usually takes place here on the weekends, but tours are available for jumpers by appointment during other times. The landscape here is beautiful and your jump will definitely be something to remember. You can also check out a variety of other jumping spots while in Costa Rica to complete all of your thrilling dreams.
